Long episode title is long. I jotted down some comments while I watched, but I'm going to type things up in paragraphs. Or at least divided up by characters. Sort of. :P
2.06 "The Tower is Tall But the Fall is Short"
Of course my little sister noted the 'sexual situations' warning at the beginning. *lol*
John: Is emo. It's strange, but I always assumed that he was the one that killed that guy on his birthday - so the drawn-out reveal that he killed him wasn't a surprise to me. John should stay in therapy, though, so he can not, you know, be so emo. The possible suicide attempt was fucking stupid though, BTW.
Cameron: Is kickass, as usual. I thought it was kind of funny that she was reading a pamphlet about teen suicide - not that the subject matter was funny, just that she was reading it and connecting the dots that John might need help while Sarah remained stubbornly ignorant. Her little fight with the other young terminator was funny - it's interesting that they made multiple young-looking terminators. That other one was more luscious than Cameron, though (she had some jiggle). Emily made a quip about "robot lesbians". Oh, Emily.
It was kind of interesting that they showed Cameron looking at the self-destructed chip at the end and simultaneously looking at the suicide pamphlet. It's an interesting connection - I wonder if we'll see her contemplate 'suicide' if she becomes dangerous again? Hmm...
I'm curious what the self-destructive chips mean for the show, though.
Sarah: Remains blissfully ignorant. Does she not get that there's a possibility that her son might have issues with the life they lead and what they will be called upon to do in order to stop Skynet? John is being bred as a soldier, but he's still a kid, and he's not a heartless person - killing someone is going to get to him. I'm glad that she eventually acknowledged that John might need help, but she's still so sure that she's all John needs.
I did like her little heart-to-heart with Derek (or whatever that was).
Derek: Is kind of adorable. I missed part of what he said at the beginning after he'd gone jogging - was he commenting about being out of shape or something? It might be all of those hotdogs he eats. :P
He also got some - I'm not sure what my thoughts are about Jesse at this point. She's obviously hiding something, but I'm hesitant to imply that she's bad in any way.
I felt bad for her when she said that she wanted to get away from the war and stop fighting, and he basically pulled away because he can't stop fighting to prevent Skynet from taking over. *pets them* For now, I'll assume she has her own motives and that she's working for John in the future somehow.
I didn't really want to see them getting all up on it, though. I love Derek, but he can keep his clothes on, and while his lady-friend is a cutie, I don't want to see that, kthanx.
Ellison: Needs to figure some shit out. I don't like him working for Weaver, and I want him to figure out that she's a terminator - or at least that she's trying to create an intelligent machine. He's no idiot, and I like that he's keeping an eye out, but I really want him to get the fuck away from Weaver.
Weaver: Seemed more robotic this week than she did before - I know it served the storyline better, but it's odd that she suddenly acted more like a machine. We've got proof that the little girl is a human, though - and that she could tell Weaver wasn't her mom - or at least that she was different. I knew she'd show the shrink the 'scared' card.
So I guess Weaver killed both of the girl's parents - so why not kill the girl? Well, never mind, I guess she couldn't have killed the girl without arousing suspicion - although nobody screamed 'robot!' when she killed the husband either. Anyway...
It was interesting to see her adapting more human behaviors by watching the video of the real Weaver - including the memory of the butcher paper. It wouldn't really smell like cow's blood, would it? Hopefully the shrink will realize that bitch is crazy and thwart her evil plans or something.
The computer is bored - interesting. I guess we know why the shrink is important, though - he helps her create an intelligent machine. The beginnings of Skynet, perhaps? I know they said she wasn't back to kill John (right?), so her mission is something else - I guess her mission is to make sure the machines get more intelligent.
By the way - when people are sent back from the future, are they always from the same future, or do the actions John, Sarah, Derek and company take in the present change the future in some way and therefore the ones who come back are from a different future? Can they only come into this timeline if they are from one specific future? No, that's not the case because Terminators came after John in the first two movies from two different timelines essentially because Judgment Day was a different year.
If they're from a different future, what if Derek never came back in that future? Or Kyle? Although if Kyle never came back, John wouldn't exist so that doesn't pan out. But if Derek never came back, if someone else came back and knew that Derek was in the future, wouldn't they perhaps be a bit suspicious? Or something? Although I suppose that John would be sure to send Derek back too, etc etc. Still, you would think that people would be coming back from different futures if they continue to come back as the series goes on. Just like the terminators are presumably altering their actions to accommodate things... Gah, this hurts my brain. >.<
Preview: As always, it looks interesting - although I hate that we're going to have to wait another two weeks! There's probably a baseball game or whatever next week. *sigh*
Hopefully, the one that dies isn't Derek (possible) or Cameron (doubtful) or Ellison (also possible)...can I vote Cromartie or Weaver off the island? :)
